Privacy Notice for Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network (LAN) Website
LAN respects the privacy of its website users. This privacy notice explains the types of information that The MITRE Corporation—as operator of this website—collects from site visitors and how we use that information. The MITRE Corporation, as the operator of the CMS Alliance to Modernize Healthcare (CAMH) Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), is convening and independently managing the LAN on behalf of CMS. MITRE is a not-for-profit operating strictly in the public interest. Your use of the LAN website constitutes acceptance of this notice.
Information Collected from Web Traffic Reporting Tools
When you visit the LAN website, the web server logs basic information about each visit. We process this information to identify any website performance issues, website usage patterns, and other important website characteristics. This information does not identify you personally but does include your IP address, resources accessed, and time of access.
LAN employs cookies for collecting portions of this information. “Cookies” are data that may be sent to your web browser and stored on your computer. Most web browsers can be configured not to accept cookies, or to notify you if a cookie is sent to you.
Information Collected for Registration and Account Management
If you register as an LAN participant or establish a user account for accessing LAN resources, you will be asked to provide personally identifiable information (PII). This PII includes your name, title, organization’s name, business address, telephone number and email address. We need this information to confirm your identity, provide you regular updates, and to ensure the security of LAN. We will also use this information to manage LAN membership and communicate with participants using MITRE-owned and externally hosted tools. External sites have their own privacy notice that applies; LAN and MITRE are not responsible for your privacy on those systems.
Where logins are required to use LAN resources, disabling cookies may prevent successful login of authorized users. If you login to the LAN website, we use session cookies to provide you access to LAN resources for the duration of your session without requiring another login. For each session, we collect information on your user account, IP address, resources accessed, and time of access.
Information Collected from E-mail and Web Forms
You may contact MITRE using methods found on the Contact Us page. We may share the information that you provide to us within MITRE to respond to your queries, but we do not provide information to anyone outside of MITRE unless required by law to do so, or as provided for in LAN agreements. We will never sell your information to a third party for any commercial purpose.
