Listen to the full recording of the LAN Learnings Webinar that took place on Wednesday, January 27, where the LAN discusses ways to create a culture of meaningful patient engagement in the face of healthcare payment and cancer care delivery reform. Presenters from the Partnership to Improve Patient Care (PIPC), National Partnership for Women and Families, and Aetna provide their perspectives on the definition and importance of patient engagement, and ways to centralize patient perspectives within shared decision making processes and tools that can be used by both providers and payers. The panel also discusses the unique economic burdens and disparities in cancer patient care, and why it is especially important to engage this particular patient population in the quality management of their care. The panel addresses questions and comments on topics such as mobile device use for obtaining patient feedback, self-management approaches to patient health and engagement, and patient involvement in constructing quality measurements and data. LAN members are encouraged to submit comments and questions to address in the upcoming white paper drafts. Watch for follow-up questions and answers from this webinar on the LAN website, and view the presentation slides from the webinar.
