Target Audience

Stakeholders interested in providing feedback on the draft white paper Accelerating and Aligning Clinical Episode Payment Models: Cardiac Care.

Description

Research suggests that when payments for health care are based on the care delivered in a clinical episode, the result is increased coordination of care, enhanced quality of care, and less fragmentation in the medical system. This leads to better experience and health for patients and lower costs for payers and providers. Patients living with a coronary artery disease (CAD), however, experience condition-based care and management over a long, undefined period of time. While the process of developing an episode payment model that does not have neatly defined time periods is challenging, the LAN is pursuing a condition-level episode payment model for CAD in order to move the field forward to improve care for patients with complex conditions. The LAN draft white paper titled Accelerating and Aligning Clinical Episode Payment Models: Cardiac Care will be available for public comment from May 20 – June 20.

Join the LAN on June 1, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm ET for an open forum webinar to discuss and provide your input on the draft recommendations. This forum will be moderated by CEP Work Group Chair Lew Sandy, Executive Vice President, Clinical Advancement, UnitedHealth Group, with additional input provided by CEP Work Group members Francois de Brantes, Executive Director, Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute and Jason Wasfy, Director of Quality and Analytics, Massachusetts General Hospital Heart Center. This will be an audience-driven, interactive forum so please bring your questions and concerns about the recommendations to this forum.

The Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network (LAN) was established as a collaborative network of public and private stakeholders, including health plans, providers, patients, employers, consumers, states, federal agencies, and other partners within the health care community.
