Summary

The Clinical Episode Payment (CEP) Work Group of the Health Care Payment Learning & Action Network (LAN) reviewed and discussed during their teleconference on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 the proposed revisions to the timeline for the Elective Joint Replacement White Paper, and the Work Group’s strategy for engaging clinical experts in the cardiac and maternity fields to strengthen the Work Group’s understanding of those areas. The Work Group also reviewed the status of the cardiac and maternity episode sprints, and provided further suggestions on each sprints’ design elements.

To achieve the goal of better care, smarter spending, and healthier people, the U.S. health care system must substantially reform its payment structure to incentivize quality, health outcomes, and value over volume. The Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network (LAN) was established as a collaborative network of public and private stakeholders, including health plans, providers, patients, employers, consumers, states, federal agencies, and other partners within the health care community.
